I think, almost everybody knows Antonio Vivaldi and what his most famous masterpiece is: The Four seasons. Therefore, in spirit of its name in this
part there are galleries, which I have created as imaginary walks in the in the same place, during all seasons. I came up with this idea to concentrate in one place, the most beautiful
images that I was able to capture in a particular spot.
This time “Vivaldi” has decided to take a walk in Nature reserve named Šúr (Shoor), which is ranked as forth level of protection, situated in Svätý
Júr near Bratislava. The worldwide importance is in its unique wetlands system with old alder forest, the only original habitat of this type in Central Europe. Thanks to its characteristics,
this amazing enviroment has been included in the list of important international wetlands by Ramsar convention. A part of this reserve is Pannonian grove (Panónsky háj)+, remains of extensive oak-elm-alder
forest with majestic centenary oaks. I`ve decided to measure the circumference of one of these oaks, just out of curiosity and it was 450 cm (14.76ft)! Other interesting things you
can find here are saltmarsh, forest steppe, Šúr’s fishpond and water canals of Šúr. Nature treasures of this area are partly documented on this
information board.
I took these photos within a ten years period, during my visits in the reserve without further plan or order so I can’t guarantee you I won’t add
something interesting in future. Maybe this gallery will be soon just a memory of this beautiful place.
